The Learning Support Unit
The Learning Support Unit (LSU) offers an adapted programme primarily for students with ORS Funding, though students with significant learning delays may also be included. There are generally 22-25 students in the LSU ranging from Year 9 to Year 13 +. Generous staffingmeans that there are lots of opportunities for small group and one to one tuition. The programme for Year 9 and 10 students is adapted from the main school Year 9 curriculum. From Year 11, students may study NZQA Level 1 Supported Learning Standards Units and complete work experience placements around the school and in the community. All students have the opportunity to work with mainstream teachers in specialist subjects such as music and PE. Where appropriate students may join mainstream classes.
