Clubs, Teams and Groups
There are many groups at school including:
Music Groups, Dance Crews, Anime Club, Fashion Club, Film Project, Bake Club
Kapa Haka, Poly Club, Origami Club, Human Rights Group, Writing Club, Art Club
Radio Station , Philosophy Club, Coffee Club and many more
The school holds an annual student-initiated and organised Sports and Societies Expose. The hall is full of displays by sports, cultural groups, societies and clubs advertising their existence to students. There are 31 different clubs or societies. In the school handbook to register for sports and cultural groups there are 17 different cultural offerings in drama, music, dance or
media areas. There is a huge opportunity to get involved in co-curricular the life of the school.

Debating
Hutt Valley High School has a strong tradition of debating and public speaking both inside and outside the classroom. Teams enter the Wellington Regional Secondary Schools’ Debating Competition run by the Wellington Speaking Union and the Russell McVeagh Debating Championship.
Speech
Students at all levels have the opportunity to take part in the school speech competition. This will culminate in the Term 3 Speech evening, at which the best speakers from each level will perform.
